Rabbit Hole Distillery has just launched a limited edition 8-year-old Boxergrail Founder’s Collection, a luxurious Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey. Building on the success of its previous 6-year version, this release is a richer and more complex interpretation, bottled at cask strength.
Kaveh Zamanian, Rabbit Hole Founder and Kentucky Bourbon Hall of Fame Whiskey Maker, extended the maturation period to 8 years, aging the whiskey in wood-fired, toasted, and charred new American Oak barrels. This meticulous process results in a bold and nuanced flavor profile.
The whiskey is named in honor of Louisville’s boxing heritage and showcases Rabbit Hole’s commitment to craftsmanship and innovation. Each bi-annual limited edition cask-strength release is a testament to the distillery’s ethos: “No Shortcuts. No Compromise. Nothing Left To Chance.”
“For this latest Founder’s Collection release, our team set out to honor our core offering of Boxergrail Kentucky Straight Rye Whiskey,” said Zamanian. “We aged it for 8 years and bottled it at cask strength to show how cask and whiskey come together at natural strength. The result is a bold expression that embodies strong character, showcasing innovation and creativity while honoring our city’s rich boxing heritage and fighting spirit.”
The whiskey boasts a rich auburn hue and a velvety texture, with a mash bill of 95% rye and 5% malted barley. Expect an enticing bouquet of mint, cinnamon, anise, and brown sugar on the nose, followed by a palate of ginger, tobacco, and blood orange. The finish is long and dramatic, featuring notes of allspice, herbs, tobacco, and oak.
Each bottle is individually numbered and features a heavy gold cork engraved with the Founder’s family crest, making it a collector’s item. Only 1,200 bottles are available, priced at $299.99 for a 750 mL bottle, with an ABV of 51.9% (103.8 proof).
